EyeCare Texoma is excited to offer our patients the latest in contact lens technology. Whether you’ve never worn contact lenses or have worn them for years, we will happily discuss the lens options available to you today. If you’ve struggled to successfully wear contacts in the past due to dryness, comfort issues, astigmatism, of poor quality of vision, make an appointment today and let us educate you on your options. The advancement of lens materials, daily disposables, lenses for astigmatism and multifocals, coupled with our expertise in fitting contacts gives most of our patients an excellent chance to have some degree of success with contact lens wear.
How Does a Contact Lens Exam Differ from the other Exams that we do?
If you currently wear contacts, please wear them in for your appointment. We will carefully assess the fit of your contact lenses to ensure proper movement on the surface of the eye. We will measure visual acuity to get a baseline on what level of vision you are achieving. Once removing your contacts, a comprehensive eye exam including corneal mapping and topography will be performed. Our corneal mapping technology helps us ensure that the physiology of your cornea is not being altered by your current contact lens wear. We examine the corneal surface with our microscope to again ensure no adverse affects are present. If you are happy with your current lenses and we find a great fit and great vision, you will be given a prescription which allows you to purchase another supply of contact lenses. If either you or the doctor is unhappy with your current contact lens fit, all other options will be discussed and a refit will happily be provided.
If you don’t currently wear contacts, we will perform a comprehensive eye exam, corneal mapping and topography, discuss your contact lens needs, review all available technologies and options, and offer our suggestions and recommendations on what lenses to start with. Trial lenses will be provided and evaluated for proper fit and good vision. Insertion and removal training will be given to those patients who have never worn contacts and to those previous wearers who need a refresher course. A return appointment will be scheduled so that we can ensure complete patient and doctor satisfaction regarding fit, comfort, and vision. At this time, you will be given a prescription which allows you to purchase a supply of contact lenses.
Specialty lenses like Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP) and Scleral lens may require a few more office visits, but with our technology and experience, success rates are very high.
